“ This is an exciting time to join the cause for change in Pennsylvania. Lisa Romaniello, 44, currently serves as Commissioner in Upper Moreland Township. As chairperson of the Redevelopment Committee from 2006-2008, Romaniello restored transparency by ending back-room negotiations and honoring the community’s expressed goals and concerns. Through bipartisan cooperation, Romaniello established clear redevelopment policies and progressive zoning laws which served to attract more than 10 new developers to the Willow Grove town center. Romaniello helped secure $750,000 in grant funding and delivered an opportunity to secure another $8-10 million in state funding for a proposed town center development project.

As Commissioner, Romaniello has been a proponent of improving township communications by supporting televised public meetings and initiating the launch of a web site dedicated solely to Willow Grove Redevelopment. Romaniello boosted citizen involvement by seeking out a wider cross-section of residents to appoint to township boards and commissions. In 2007, Romaniello supported the expansion of the Zoning Hearing Board from 3 to 5 members and advocated the appointment of the only woman now serving on that board.

In 2006, Romaniello co-founded the Multi-Municipal Workshop to help foster relationships between local officials in Eastern Montgomery County and work towards regional solutions to common problems, such as traffic and storm water flooding. Their first project resulted in the DVRPC Route 611/263 Planning Study on transportation and land use, of which Romaniello currently serves as a member of the Study Advisory Committee.

In addition, Romaniello serves as a board member of the Friends of Boileau Farmstead, a non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration and adaptive re-use of the last colonial farmstead in Upper Moreland Township, the Nathaniel Boileau Farmstead. She will join the Settlement Music School in fall of 2008 as board member.

Prior to joining the Board of Commissioners in 2006, Romaniello served as president of Upper Moreland Historical Commission, a member of the Advisory Planning Agency, the Open Space Committee, Willow Grove Redevelopment and Revitalization Oversight Committee, and the Willow Grove Redevelopment and Revitalization Implementation Committee.

Romaniello is Principal of Romaniello Graphic Communications, LLC. She is a graduate of The Art Institute of Philadelphia, where she was a Dean’s List student, finishing in the top 10% of her graduating class. She supports the expansion of Philadelphia’s creative economy throughout the metropolitan area.

Romaniello was born in Gettysburg, PA. She comes from a family active in community service. Romaniello and her husband, Vincent, live in Ward 1 of Upper Moreland Township.

Romaniello has been a champion for sustainable economic development, regionalism, and the environment.
