Upper Moreland Township Democratic Commissioner Romaniello will enter the race for State Representative of the 152nd District

Upper Moreland Township, Pennsylvania — Commissioner Lisa Romaniello is seeking the Democratic nomination in the primary election on April 22nd. Romaniello currently serves as Township Commissioner in Upper Moreland. Romaniello is focused on advancing regionalism, economic development and concerns over the environment.

Romaniello is co-founder of a Multi-Municipal workshop that meets to address common problems and propose regional solutions. The Route 611 and 263 Corridor Study was initiated to address transportation linkage opportunities and enhance land use within five municipalities. “Regional cooperation is the foundation towards solving many of our regions problems, such as storm water, traffic and economic development. As a state legislator, I will be an advocate for regional problem solving across municipal and district boundaries,” Romaniello said.

During 2006 and 2007, Romaniello led the redevelopment efforts in Upper Moreland Township, which attracted renewed interest in revitalizing Willow Grove. As an advocate for smart growth principles, Romaniello built bipartisan support to champion the adopted community plan, implement progressive zoning, secure $750,000 in grants and seek a public/private approach to redevelopment.

A public improvement project is scheduled to break ground early this year, which will consist of a new road, intersection and public plaza. “It takes bipartisan cooperation to gain the political momentum needed to achieve real progress,” Romaniello said.

“I am running to champion economic development, property tax reform, and protection of our natural resources by promoting sustainable development. Too many older communities in my district are struggling to compete. This has a direct impact on jobs, property taxes and many quality of life issues in our region. Economic development funds are available at the state level if we are willing to fight for these dollars. As State Representative, I will work hard to bring grants, loans and tax credits back to the district to support projects that are essential for our economic future,” Romaniello said.

“This is an exciting time to join the cause for change in Pennsylvania. The experience I've gained as a Township Commissioner and my desire to represent the public interest by calling for more transparency will make me a good representative to advance the cause of reform and change in the PA Legislature. I believe the first step towards making real change in Pennsylvania starts with campaign finance reform. I have been willing to take on the special interests here in Upper Moreland, particularly relating to Willow Grove’s redevelopment effort. I will continue to fight hard to protect the interests of the entire district,” Romaniello said.

“Pennsylvania generates 1% of all greenhouse gases. Pennsylvania can be a leader in developing alternative fuels and clean energy sources. At the very minimum, it would boost our economy and provide permanent jobs. Because of the challenges in our economy, our environment and our healthcare system, we have an obligation to try and make Pennsylvania a cleaner, greener and healthier state,” Romaniello said.

Romaniello is a graphic designer and principal of Romaniello Graphic Communications, LLC. She and her husband, Vincent Romaniello, produce print materials, multimedia and video projects for local and national companies. Romaniello is a 1983 graduate in the top 10% of her class at The Art Institute of Philadelphia. She also studied at the University of the Arts. Romaniello’s professional experience includes work for Chase Manhattan Bank and US News and World Report, NYC, and Bally's Park Place Casino Hotel, Atlantic City, NJ.

Romaniello, 44, was born in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. She and her husband, Vincent, live in Upper Moreland Township. They have been married 15 years.

Romaniello’s past and present community service includes: board member, Friends of Boileau Farmstead; president, Upper Moreland Historical Commission; member, Open Space Committee; member, Advisory Planning Agency; member, Willow Grove Redevelopment and Revitalization Oversight Committee; member, Willow Grove Redevelopment and Revitalization Implementation Committee.

The 152nd Legislative District includes Upper Moreland Township, Lower Moreland Township, Hatboro Borough, Bryn Athyn, sections of Upper Dublin and Horsham Township, and sections of Philadelphia (Philmont Heights).
